Discourse and Dignity, Period

We will be coming together to learn about the experiences of menstruating individuals in incarcerated spaces. To give back to the community, we will be packing period kits with menstrual hygiene products for individuals that have recently left incarcerated spaces.

During the first part of our event, we will hear from a formerly incarcerated menstruator. We will focus on topics such as access to menstrual hygiene products and a lack of education or sanitation access in these spaces. At the intersection of these two stigmatized topics, menstruation and incarceration, lies an issue that has been disregarded by our community. (This section can be attended virtually.)

In the second part of our event, we will come together for more informal discussion and dialogue while we pack period kits for individuals leaving incarcerated spaces and reentering the community. With the high price of menstrual products, this community service-centered aspect will help us give back to those that have navigated incarceration while menstruating.
