The Festival of Color is an untimed event. At the start, runners are given color powder packets to blast their friends in color from head to toe. The color washes out, so no worries, but bring a white shirt so the colors POP. Since there is no official time or winners, the run is made for everyone - you can even walk it! It's a great opportunity to get outside, get active, and have fun!
On May 14th, the run/walk starts at Carnegie green, next to the Anderson Academic Commons Library. Check-in and color-packet handout goes from 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM. Group warmup and stretch at 11:30 AM. And it all starts at 12:00 PM!
At the finish, there will be food, photo ops, and music to celebrate Holi! Plus, we'll have a group cool down and stretch.
Holi (also known as the Festival of Colors) is a spring festival involving dancing, singing, and the throwing of vibrant colors and water celebrated by the Hindu diaspora across the world. It's marked by the unity of people gathering in the streets to celebrate the triumph of good over evil, love, and happiness, having its roots from the Hindu legends of Prahalad and Holika, to name a few. Each spectacular color has its own symbolic meaning as well, representing life, divinity, and nature.
