Your Roadmap for Successful Aging (YRSA)

We have teamed up with Cindy Koch from Aging at 5280 to provide this free series. Cindy and her team will be discussing a wide range of aging topics.

Join Aging at 5280 Founder and Owner, Cindy Koch and Elder Care Manager, Karen Summers as they speak with Mary Archer about young-onset dementia and her new book, Help Me Sing My Song.

Mary Archer has served the young-onset dementia population for many years. She is meeting with us to discuss her experiences, clarify the meaning of young-onset dementia, make recommendations for caregivers, and shed light on the unique challenges of having dementia at a younger age. We especially welcome participants who have this diagnosis or are family or professional caregivers. It can be a lonely experience; our hope is that this presentation and discussion will help you along this journey.

The title of the book is:
Help Me Sing My Song
Young-Onset Dementia Caregivers Share Their Stories

Mary Archer

Mary  Archer has worked in the eldercare space for many years and in a variety of settings - such as in-home caregiving, in an adult day program and in nursing homes. In 2014 she created her own caregiving business focused particularly on people who have young-onset or early/mid stage dementia. This year she published a book based on her experiences caring for those who have young-onset dementia. She has been leading support groups for many years, helps with moving young-onset folks to memory care or assisted living homes, and she connects families to resources such as day programs, caregivers and dementia friendly cultural events.

Her book, Help Me Sing My Song, is cowritten by Barbara Lewis, whose husband had young-onset and was one of Mary's first clients.
