Denver Dialogues: U.S. Congressional Reform — Evolution or Revolution?

Wednesday, March 13 (4:30-6pm) | Zoom Webinar
The current 118th Congress is on track to become one of the least productive in U.S. history in terms of the number of bills passed and one of the most rancorous by any measure. While major policy challenges and social turmoil mount in the country and abroad, the legislative branch is beset by hyper partisanship, instability in the House speakership, and serious ethics breaches. This installment of the Denver Dialogues will focus on the state of the U.S. Congress, with our panelists discussing whether its lack of effectiveness and dwindling legitimacy can be addressed by institutional reforms or require a more dramatic overhaul in our political system. Our experts will explore the sources of legislative dysfunction and how we might build a more functional and productive Congress to meet the contemporary moment.

The Denver Dialogues is an event series hosted by the Josef Korbel School of International Studies and the Scrivner Institute of Public Policy, in partnership with premier American think tanks, to model civil discourse about major issues facing the nation and the world. With experts drawn in partnership with the American Enterprise Institute, the Aspen Institute, the Hoover Institution, and New America, Denver Dialogues convenes robust and constructive conversations on the major policy issues of our day.

Disability Community Day of Mourning

Disability Community Day of Mourning
March 1st
Friday, the Disability Community Day of Mourning, we join the disability community nationwide in mourning and celebrating the lives of disabled victims of filicide—people with disabilities murdered by their family members or caregivers. It is on this day and every day that we fight for equal protection under the law for those with disabilities and remember that disabled lives are worth living.
