The SAIE DEI Committee is charged with developing an SAIE DEIJ framework and assessment. In Phase 1 we completed a SOAR analysis on how SAIE elevates and embeds DEI. As we move into Phase 2, this information will be used to create an SAIE DEI framework that all areas in the division will use to create DEI action plans.  Join us as we share findings from Phase 1 and get your feedback.

Strategies for Fostering Purpose (in You and Your Students)

Bryan Dik, PhD

Audience: faculty, staff

The 4D Experience’s Four Dimensions converge with a growing body of research on how holistic, integrated career development leads to positive outcomes—for students, but for working adults, too. What are some ways to advance intellectual growth, foster careers and lives of purpose, promote well-being, and explore character within your own career, while assisting students as they do the same? This discussion-focused workshop will explore this question, inviting engagement with evidence-based strategies from vocational psychology for personal and professional growth.

How Academic Research Supports the 4D Experience

Melissa Akaka, PhD

Audience: faculty

The University of Denver's 4D Experience extends beyond students and the classroom to provide a multi-dimensional foundation for academic research as well. The heart of research is advancing intellectual growth as knowledge is created and disseminated through disciplinary research and scientific rigor. DU's commitment to the public good also impacts communities through research-based collaborations and partnerships with a variety of organizations. Faculty at the Daniels College of Business explore market-based phenomena and create new knowledge across several areas of research impact, including: 1) Ethical Decisions and Leadership, 2) Sustainability Policies and Practices, 3) Emerging Technology and Artificial Intelligence, 4) Economic Growth and Governance, and 5) Equity, Inclusivity, and Well-being in Markets. Research across these areas of impact align with and extend the 4D Experience with external stakeholders by helping organizations, policymakers, and people better understand 1) how underlying dimensions of careers and organizations shape lives of purpose, 2) how well-being is created and supported by markets, and 3) how leadership, workforce, and consumer characteristics can drive necessary behavioral and social change. We will share details regarding an ongoing community-based collaboration that is investigating the dynamics of Denver's Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and helping to increase funding for women and BIPOC founders.

Inspire Integrity

Corey Ciocchetti, JD

Audience: all students

Track(s): character

Corey’s most popular keynote on ethics encourages audiences to chase the truly important things in life such as a solid character, strong personal relationships and a sense of contentment. These “real rabbits” are compared and contrasted to more fleeting worldly success such as excessive wealth, popularity, and prestige. Audience members leave with a better sense of what it takes to develop integrity, set priorities, gain a big-picture perspective, and chase an authentic life. By the end, Corey promises that this will be one of the most powerful and motivational speeches you have ever heard.
