Join us for a conversation with Michael Singh, Managing Director at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and former Senior Director for Middle East Affairs at the National Security Council. This discussion will explore the challenges of democracy-building in the Middle East, U.S. engagement in Syria, and lessons from past American strategies in the region. Moderated by Micheline Ishay, Director of Korbel's Center for Middle East Studies.

Michael Singh is the managing director at the Washington Institute. Singh served in the White House, working on Iran’s nuclear and regional activities, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and Syria. He also served as special assistant to Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell. Singh specializes in Arab-Israeli relations, democratic reform, energy, proliferation, great power competition, Iran, and Syria.
