C+V Community Talk Recording: Israel & Gaza

Image is a banner that displays the words "Community Talk" and the organization that organized the community talk, C+V, which is now housed under Human Resources and Inclusive Community, so their logo is also on the banner

The violence that is taking place in Israel, Palestine, and Gaza is incredibly tragic and painful – it is hard to even find the words to explain it. Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this conflict. We know that this has impacted, both directly and indirectly, many in our community.

To support one another in community together, we hosted a community talk discussing the tragedy. Chancellor Haefner opened the session with remarks, and we heard from a panel of DU community members from across the University of Denver to engage in meaningful discussion and learning. We explored the human impact, recent events, and geopolitical context.

Our goal was to create a space for empathy and understanding, where participants could gain insight into the perspectives of those affected and engage in constructive reflection and learning. It is imperative to note that every DU community member deserves to feel safe and welcome - we do not tolerate antisemitism, Islamophobia, or any form of hate.

Families Find Healing at INTO LIGHT Exhibit on DU's Campus

image of individuals crossing their arms and looking at the exhibit's display

The INTO LIGHT Project was born from the profound grief experienced by Theresa Clower, who lost her son Devin to a fentanyl overdose. The project's mission is simple yet powerful: to revolutionize the dialogue surrounding drug addiction through the raw and compelling language of art and storytelling.ÔÇ»ÔÇ»

Set against the backdrop of a staggering national drug epidemic that claimed over 100,000 lives between April 2020 and April 2021, the INTO LIGHT Project exhibit serves as a catalyst for change. This exhibit, scheduled to traverse the University of Denver campus from Aug. 31 – Nov. 17, seeks to dismantle the stigma that surrounds addiction, correct misinformation and pave the way for meaningful conversations and education that foster empathy and understanding.ÔÇ»ÔÇ»

The project showcases original portraits and stories of those whose lives were cut short by Substance Use Disorder. The exhibit has relocated to the University of Denver Community Commons Gallery and will be displayed from October 30 to November 17.
