DU Story Mosaic Fall 2023 Event: Sharing Stories: Building Community

We are excited to officially launch the ‘DU Story Mosaic: Sharing Stories, Building Community,’ a storytelling initiative at DU! The DU Story Mosaic is a cross-campus collaboration that recognizes the incredible power of storytelling. Modeled after the Human Library and building on our C+V Community Voices work, this initiative aims to bring together the entire DU Community to engage in a meaningful exchange of our unique stories. Our hope is that community members listen, learn from each other, and practice reflection to experience personal growth in the process. We also seek to inspire change within our organization through storytelling.

The DU Story Mosaic will offer participants the opportunity to share stories through a variety of creative expressions, such as one-on-one and group conversations, spoken word, art, and poetry, both publicly and anonymously, to cultivate an embodied community experience where everyone can feel safe to be vulnerable and their authentic selves.

Join us for our Fall Quarter launch event (details below). We invite any DU community member to join us for the event! Attendees can either share a story as a storyteller or RSVP as a listener participant.

CRP hopes to shed light on the stigma of addiction through the INTO LIGHT Project which showcases original portraits and the poignant stories of individuals whose lives were tragically cut short by Substance Use Disorder (SUD), igniting a movement to reshape societal perceptions of addiction.

The INTO LIGHT Project is currently displayed at the DU Museum and will move to the DU Libraries from October 2nd to October 20th.

September | National Recovery Month

Homecoming 2023 banner with students and fans cheering

Originally known as "National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month," National Recovery Month, celebrated in September, was established to raise awareness about substance use disorders and the transformative power of recovery. Over time, its focus expanded to include mental health awareness and broader forms of personal healing and growth.

National Recovery Month is a time to honor the tenacious spirit of individuals triumphing over substance use disorders and mental health challenges. Through shared stories and collective support, we celebrate the journey of recovery and emphasize the importance of unity in fostering wellness. National Recovery Month stands as a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the collective efforts to build a society where everyone can find the resources, understanding, and hope needed to overcome challenges and thrive in recovery.
