Program Goals:
Foster a collaborative environment where new faculty members can share best practices, resources, and challenges related to teaching, scholarship, and community engagement.
Create an environment of reflection that creates a deeper understanding of the intersection between teaching, research, and service, recognizing the potential for integration and impact in these areas.
Orient faculty to resources available to support them and their students at the University of Denver
Build a community of teacher-scholars dedicated to the public good.
Expectations:
New Faculty will attend:
Three Workshops a Year
New Faculty Orientation – September 6, 2024
Winter Retreat
Spring Celebration
One New Faculty Academy Session per month
Topics will include: Inclusive Teaching and Learning, Research for the Public Good, Faculty Governance, Well-being, Student Support and Engagement, Promotion and Tenure, and more!
Participation in 1 professional development program per year of their choosing. For example, faculty could participate in one of the following:
WAG – Writing Accountability Group
Faculty Learning Community
OTL Short Course
Teaching for Inclusion and Equity Microcredential
Course Design Institute
Neurodiversity Institute
Student Faculty Partnerships
Exit Survey Response and Reflection
All participants of the New Faculty Academy will receive a letter to their Deans, Chairs/Directors and a certificate after successfully completing all components of the academy.
