Equity Reads

Storytelling is the most powerful tool that humans use to connect with one another. Equity Labs is excited to engage our community in the transformative action of finding meaning through stories in our Equity Reads program.

Equity Reads is an outlet for the DEIJ community or those interested in DEIJ to dive deeply into specific topics. Guided by two experienced facilitators, participants will critically examine a mix of media formats including podcasts, written articles, videos, and books influencing the DEIJ landscape. The facilitation team will also support attendees in developing their own skills to guide conversations with their teams, colleagues, and friends. The Spring Equity Reads book club will focus on body image, bias, health, and liberation.

Topics We Will Cover:

• March 18, 2025 -Session 1: Uncovering the Racialized History of Body Size Bias
• April 1, 2025 - Session 2: Breaking the Link: Unpacking Myths about Weight and Health
• April 15, 2025 - Session 3: Mother Knows Best? Body Image and Relationships
• April 29, 2025 -Session 4: Taking up Space: Body Liberation and Size-Inclusive Activism

Any individual, group, or organization is welcome to join and participate in Equity Reads.

What Participants Can Expect:

• Four facilitated sessions guided by two experienced facilitators.

• Engaging media of all types to prepare for conversations including but not limited to podcasts, book chapters, articles, videos, etc.

• Access to Equity Reads Portal with resources for a year

• Skills for facilitating your own DEIJ dialogues centering conversations about topics covered

You may attend all sessions or as few as one and still participate and learn from the group! Before each session, we provide you with pre-work materials offered in multiple formats to accommodate your learning styles and capacities.

Cancellation and Refunds:
If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance of the first Equity Reads session, you will receive a full refund. If it is 24 hours or less, you will receive a 50% refund.
