WEEK 5
Forgive Yourself Friday, Friday May 1st, 10:30am-2:00pm-ish, CCOM Exterior: Do you ever lay awake at night thinking about your mistakes, your poor decisions, or moments you'd wish went differently? Come pet a dog! It won't fix everything, but it might just help, and we'll give you some tips for working through shame and regret as well. This special edition of our Ruff Week series is kicking off the month with our favorite fluffy friend Yabo the dog! WEEK 6
Wild Not Crazy, Tuesday May 5th, 11:00am-1:30pm, CCOM Exterior: Leave the stigma, take some flowers! This event focuses on the stigmatizing language that is often used around Substance Use Disorders and other mental health topics. Attendees will be able to learn about this topic and walk away with their own potted wildflower seeds, allowing their knowledge and plant friends to bloom!
Mindfulness for Midterms, Wednesday May 6th, 11:00am-1:30pm, CCOM 1700 : Join us to engage in mindfulness activities! Craft supplies will be provided at no cost to all students who participate in a mindfulness activity.
WEEK 7
Suicide Prevention Training, Tuesday May 12th, 5:00-6:00pm, CCOM 2600: Come and get trained on how to identify the signs of and respond to someone thinking of ending their life. Therapy is Cool, Wednesday May 13th, 12:00-2:30pm, CCOM Exterior: Need some help but don't know where to start? Contacted a therapist but nervous about first meeting awkwardness? In therapy and feeling its time for a break or break up? Good with where you're at but just want a sweet treat on a hot day? We've got you covered! Health Promotion and therapists from the community will be tabling to address all of your possible concerns and to help make therapy seem less intimidating. All participants will walk away with a sweet, frozen treat.
Safer Study Abroad, Wednesday May 13th, 4:00-5:00pm, AAC 301: Stay well while travelling the world! This training will discuss strategies and resources to manage culture shock, homesickness, and all the other challenges that can come along with cultural immersion. It is intended for individuals planning to partake in study abroad while at DU, but it does not matter if you have your trip booked or are still exploring the idea. All are welcome! Mental Health First Aid, Friday May 15th, 8:30am-5:00pm, location will be disclosed after registration to keep confidentiality: We will be holding an open Mental Health First Aid training free for all DU community members. Learn how to identify and respond to early, worsening, and crisis mental health challenges and become certified as a Mental Health First Aider. Email mhfa@du.edu to sign up or get more information. WEEK 8
Better in Bed, Tuesday May 19th, 11:00am-1:30pm, CCOM 1st Floor Canyon: Health Promotion will be tabling to educate students on the connection between their sleep health and sexual health and what they can do to improve both! Participants that spin our trivia wheel and answer a question related to sleep and/or sexual health will be able to choose from a selection of excellent giveaways!
Do Drugs Help, Thursday May 21st, 11:00am-1:30pm, CCOM Exterior, Join us to learn more about how drugs affect your wellbeing. Participants can engage in mythbusting around using drugs to support your health and win prizes!

This Mental Health Awareness Month, Thrive Health Promotion brings you Therapy Is Cool, a program focused on everything you need to know to navigate therapy, presented in a low-stakes, accessible, and delicious format. All participants will be able to get a frozen treat and can ask folks who have been through it themselves and that are in training to become therapists what the whole process is really like!

Kick off Mental Health Awareness Month with some puppy love. This special edition of our Ruff Week event will guide students on how to move from self-blame to self-acceptance and forgiveness. What better way to practice letting things go than by spending time with our furry friend Yabo, who is absolutely a food-stealing, face-licking menace that we love anyway!
