World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse and neglect.

Join fellow elder abuse advocates in the Denver area for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at the University of Denver on June 13th!

9:30am - 10:00am - Registration open, coffee and water will be served
10:00am - 12:30pm - Presentations - see below
12:30pm - 1:00pm - Grab and go lunch boxes or stay for lunch and network

Presentations:

* Honoring Sergeant T.J Blair

* Fraud Trends Targeting Older Coloradans - Dr. Eric Chess, Lynn Lowe and Mark Fetterhoff.

* Abuse and Traumatic Stress in Older Adults - Dr. Anne DePrince.

*LGBTQ+ Older Adults and Abuse in Later Life - Michael Chifalo and Liz Parker.

* Abuse Complaints in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Homes: How the Colorado Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program Investigates and Responds - Leah McMahon.
Food Provided (Coffee and water will be available upon arrival at 9:30am. Boxed lunches will be provided at the close of the event around 12:30pm)
