An expert-led discussion will walk through Colorado's record against a turbulent two months in Washington: two executive orders, more than thirty DOJ lawsuits over voter rolls, a Supreme Court fight over USPS authority over mail ballots, and Colorado's own role as a plaintiff state in that fight.
This event is for every Colorado voter across the political spectrum who wants a factual understanding of how our elections actually work, and what's really happening at the federal level.
Speakers will include Matt Crane, Executive Director of the Colorado County Clerks Association and Molly Fitzpatrick, Boulder County Clerk and Recorder. Korbel School Dean Frederick “Fritz” Mayer will moderate the discussion.

Matt Crane is a nationally recognized election administration and security expert with 26 years of experience at the local, state, and national levels. As Executive Director of the Colorado County Clerks Association, he works with county clerks on election policy, professional development, communications, and the operational challenges of administering elections. His work brings together people with different perspectives to develop practical solutions and strengthen public confidence.
From 2013 to 2018, Matt served as the Clerk and Recorder of Arapahoe County. He previously worked in election administration at both the county and state levels and served as president of the Colorado County Clerks Association. That experience gives him a firsthand understanding of how Colorado’s election model developed, how its safeguards work in practice, and the pressures election officials face today.
Matt also brings a national perspective through his consulting work with the Election Security Exchange, the Coalition of Election Association Leaders, and the League of Conservative Election Professionals. He previously supported the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Election Security Initiative, working with election officials and partners across the country on security risks, preparedness, and information sharing. Across these roles, he has focused on turning complex policy and security challenges into practical steps election offices can use. In 2022, Matt testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee about threats facing election officials and workers.
Molly Fitzpatrick

Boulder County
Molly Fitzpatrick was first elected as Boulder County Clerk and Recorder in 2018 and re-elected to a second four-term term in 2022. As Boulder County Clerk and Recorder, Molly oversees three divisions: elections, motor vehicle, and recording.
Molly is a member of the Colorado County Clerks Association (CCCA) and was the association’s president in 2024. Molly also served as the CCCA elections legislative co-chair. In that role, she collaborated closely with county clerks and stakeholders to implement forward-thinking election reforms prioritizing security and accessibility. She is now the co-chair of the motor vehicle legislative committee. Molly also actively participates in multiple national working groups and previously served on the Electronic Recording Technology Board, which supports the digitization of land records in Colorado.
In her role as clerk, Molly is consistently championing advancements that uphold the values of integrity, accessibility, and security in the elections process. She works to demonstrate these values to the public through proactive communication and outreach.
