The Denver Law Review is excited to host its annual Symposium. This year, "The Fourteenth Amendment: Modern Interpretations and Implications" will explore the evolving impact that the Fourteenth Amendment has on key legal issues today. Expert panels will discuss substantive due process, gender and sexuality, birthright citizenship, affirmative action, and the law of democracy, examining how the Fourteenth Amendment shapes individual rights, voting rights, immigration, race-conscious policies, and protections for marginalized groups. The Symposium will also highlight Denver’s significance in constitutional law following Trump v. Anderson, which addressed the Insurrection Clause in relation to the most recent election. Through these discussions, the Symposium will provide insights into how the Fourteenth Amendment continues to influence modern legal interpretations and social dynamics in the United States.
