"Queer Voices of DU" Panel Interest
Please fill out this form if you are a student/staff/faculty member of DU and are interested in being part of the following opportunity:
A queer narrative sharing program that will involve student, staff, and faculty volunteers who are interested in cultivating and sharing their own 3-5 minute "queer story" as part of a 3-5 person, facilitated panel, followed by time for open dialogue and questions from those attending in the audience. Many schools have this program and call it a "Speaker's Bureau" or something similar, and hold quite a few per year as a way to build empathy and understanding around the nuances of our diverse experiences as queer people across campus in various settings.
The goal would be to host the panel/dialogue sessions in various classrooms as a supplemental material lecture option for faculty, during athletic team/SAAC meetings, at Fraternity/Sorority/Student Org meetings, departmental pro devo sessions, and more. Depending on interest, participation would be minimal for panelists at 1-3 volunteer panels per year. We would also be hosting a once a year 2-3 hour training for anyone interested in being a panelist to help guide the story creation process and provide the opportunity for feedback and practice, the first one taking place this Spring or coming Fall.
Filling this out does not mean you officially agree to being a panelist, this is merely an interest form. Feel free to share with other LGBTQIA+ identifying DU Community members, including alumni!
Are you interested in hosting a future panel for your class, student org group, department, or other DU community group? And if so, please share more.
