About Us
Sigma Lambda Gamma (SLG) is the largest, fastest-growing multicultural sorority in the United States. We have expanded to over 100 universities in just the past 29 years. SLG has over 8,000 sisters worldwide, representing over 110 nationalities.
Our organization began on October 22, 1989, when a group of women gathered at the University of Iowa to form a group that would provide social and academic support to Latinas and women of all cultures. After a lot of hard work and dedication, the Panhellenic Council at the University of Iowa recognized Sigma Lambda Gamma as a sorority on April 9, 1990. This is the day Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority recognizes as our founding date.
Sigma Lambda Gamma is a sisterhood of women who have chosen this affiliation as a manner to achieve personal development and awareness to the responsibility of community involvement for the betterment of our local, regional, national and global communities. Our members have recognized the need for togetherness and support among women of all cultures at their universities and are dedicated to the overall success of women around the world.
On September 21, 2009, a group of four women gathered together to decide what organization they could bring to the University of Denver campus to empower all women. After years of dedication, determination, and hard work, this unique colony became the ODacious Omicron Delta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma on February 26th, 2011 at the University of Denver. Since then, our sisters have worn our letters with pride while excelling academically, participating in community service, and being leaders in various on-campus organizations. Sisters have gone on to become amazing, independent women, traveling across the world, advocating in our communities, becoming politicians, and creating a legacy.
