SVA Spring Quarter 2026 Meeting

The SVA is hosting its quarterly meeting, open to all members, to discuss issues relevant to student veterans and to give members the opportunity to meet with SVA leadership. Pizza will be provided based on the number of RSVP's received.

We want to hear your thoughts on the SVA now and where you would like to see it in the future. The SVA exists to enhance the student veteran experience at DU, and your input helps us make that possible.

Topics to address:
- The Third Annual DU Veterans Ball. We are very excited to welcome everyone to the Third Annual DU Veterans Ball, taking place on May 9th from 6 PM to 10 PM in the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management's Tuscan Ball Room, featuring keynote speaker David Carle, DU's Head Hockey Coach.

We are raising funds for the Student Emergency Relief for Veterans (SERV) Fund, with a goal of $10,000.

Once funded, SERV will provide direct financial support to student veterans facing unexpected hardship, and your presence directly contributes to making that support possible.

DU Students: Attend FREE (thanks to the Campus Life Gift Fund)
Faculty, Staff, Alumni, and Community Members: $100
Open to the entire DU community — no military affiliation required

- Memorial Day Murph. On the morning of May 23rd, the SVA will be hosting our annual Memorial Day Murph, where SVA members can participate in the Murph workout!

- SVA Officer Changes. Other officers and I will be leaving the SVA at the end of Spring Quarter. Vacancies will be filled by appointees. If you'd like to be an officer in the SVA, please reach out to me at Caleb.Smith861@du.edu.

- Election Process. We are developing an official election process. SVA members will be able to run for office and vote for the officers they want.

- Happy Hour/Graduate Celebration. We would like to host a Happy Hour near the end of Spring Quarter at the Pioneer to congratulate our graduating student veterans. Please bring friends/loved ones to celebrate your success with us! Even if you aren't graduating, we still want to see you there.

- Fundraising. We would like to discuss fundraising initiatives to support our events, and would love to hear your ideas.
