New Student Programs

New Student and Family Programs is committed to the successful transition of new students and families into the University of Denver campus community. We do this by providing inclusive, holistic, student-centered programming aimed at empowering student academic success, personal growth and meaningful connections.

Through participation in the Discoveries Orientation program, new students will:

  • Learn about student roles and responsibilities of becoming a University of Denver Community Member,
  • Explore the resources and opportunities that support student's academic, social, and health and wellness goals,
  • Develop skills centered on self-awareness, social interactions, and engaging with the diverse identities, ideas, and experiences of others in the community, and Develop a sense of belonging and connection to the University of Denver and great Denver community.
  • Develop a sense of belonging and connection to the University of Denver and great Denver community.

New students, through the Discoveries Orientation program, will be provided with a guide with which to make their transition to DU as smooth as possible. All new students will be assigned detailed checklists, participate in virtual events and activities prior to arrival, receive individualized advising for new student registration, and participate in Welcome Week upon arrival to #DiscoverDU.

Pre-Arrival Supports

Get the information you need to prepare for arrival through cohort group meetings, academic advising, info sessions, skill-building trainings and a self-paced online orientation course.

Welcome Week

Move-in and spend time getting to know your residential, academic, and social communities at DU and exploring the City and County of Denver.
