Do I need Letters of recommendation?

You do not need letters of recommendation, but chapters will accept them prior to recruitment and take them into consideration throughout the process. Letters of recommendation serve as an introduction of a PNM to the respective chapter and allows the chapter to learn more about the PNM in advance. To learn more about how to submit a letter of recommendation please contact the respective chapter and they will give you further instruction.

If I participate in recruitment am I obligated to join a chapter?

If you participate in recruitment you are not obligated to join a chapter. Many women go through the recruitment process to learn more about the Panhellenic community at DU and meet other women. PNMs can drop out of the recruitment process at any point.

Does everyone receive a bid?

Although this is rare, in some cases a PNM can be released from the Formal Recruitment Process, meaning the PNM has not been asked to return to any of the chapters for the next round of th4e process. The PNMs Rho Gamma will contact the PNM as soon as possible to discuss other possible options moving forward.

What is the time commitment of being in a sorority?

You get out of the experience what you put into it when joining a chapter! All chapters have weekly mandatory meetings as well as several mandatory events on weekends or week nights throughout the quarter. There are also non mandatory events such as sisterhood events, social events, philanthropy events., and other fraternity and sorority life events. Sorority life at DU is not all consuming and allows for members to branch out and join other branches of the DU community such as clubs, intermural and club sports, theatre, choir, dance, cheer, business and professional fraternities, and much more!

Do I have to be a freshman to go through recruitment?

You do not have to be a first year to go through recruitment. We welcome all undergrads to go through the formal recruitment process whether they are a first year, a transfer student, or decide that they want to join a sorority in their later years at DU! We strongly encourage going through the recruitment process no matter how old or what year you are at DU!

What is COB?

COB stands for continuous open bidding. This is a process where sororities meet women outside of formal recruitment throughout the school year. PNMs can contact the chapter that they are interested or a chapter can reach out to PNMs. This process is less formal that the Formal Recruitment Process that takes place in the fall, but not all sororities will participate in this process.

What is a PNM?

A PNM is a potential new member and will be the individuals that are going through the recruitment process.

What are Rho Gamma's?

A Rho Gamma is a recruitment counselor who leads and helps guides PNMs through recruitment. Rho Gamma's are women currently in an active chapter at DU that have chosen to help guide PNMs through recruitment. All PNM's will be assigned a Rho Gamma. A Rho Gamma's job is to help prepare women to go through Formal Recruitment, explain the process, give advice, guide PNMs through the process, and answer any questions PNM's have about recruitment and Panhellenic life at DU!

If I go through recruitment do I have to live in the house?

Each chapter is different when it comes to housing. There are 6 chapter houses near campus. Normally each chapter has members live in their sophomore year or second year at DU, but you can learn more about this once you have joined a chapter!

What chapters participate in formal recruitment?

Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta. And Gamma Phi Beta are all participants in the Formal Recruitment Process.
