“Beethoven’s Complete Works for Cello & Piano” – June 9 & 10, 7:30pm Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear Beethoven’s complete works for cello and piano performed in two special concerts. The Colorado Cello Quartet—David Requiro, Meta Weiss, Alice Yoo, and Matthew Zalkind—join forces with renowned pianists Ieva Jokubaviciute and Julio Elizalde for a deep dive into Beethoven’s genius. From the bold virtuosity of his early sonatas to the depth and introspection of his later works, this series offers a full-spectrum journey through Beethoven’s revolutionary writing for these instruments.
“Folk Rhythms & Timeless Melodies” – June 13, 7:30pm Gabriela Lena Frank’s Four Folk Songs for violin, cello, and piano brings the vibrant melodies and rhythmic vitality of Peru to life in a piano trio. In celebration of Maurice Ravel’s 150th birthday, his Violin Sonata takes center stage, blending classical form with the raw energy of jazz and the charm of Spanish folk music. The evening concludes with Brahms’ String Sextet in B-flat Major, Op. 18, a work brimming with sweeping melodies and lush harmonies—Brahms at his most lyrical, radiant, and expressive and a crown jewel of the chamber music repertoire.
Romance & Revelry – June 14, 7:30pm Ravel’s La Valse for four hands sets the stage with its whirlwind of shimmering waltz themes, a dance that teeters between elegance and chaos. Arensky’s Quartet No. 2 for two cellos follows, a deeply expressive and soulful work that showcases the cello’s rich, singing quality. Closing the program is Fauré’s Piano Quartet in G minor, an intoxicating mix of passion, refinement, and soaring melodies—a DCMF Finale that speaks directly to the heart.
