Undergraduate Writing Groups at the Writing Center! | Anderson Academic Commons or Zoom

Dissertation or thesis deadline bumming you out? Writing can be isolating, but it doesn’t have to be! Writing Center's Writing Groups offer community, a change of scenery, and structure to help you turn small writing goals into finished projects. Writing groups are informal sessions, lasting two or three hours and facilitated by graduate writing consultants. Different facilitators have their own ways of running the groups, but all follow a similar structure: Check-in, warm-up writing exercise or conversation, and individual goal-setting for the session Three or four timed bursts of writing (25-40 minutes each for individual productivity) with short breaks between A quick closing conversation with a focus on accomplishments large and small Groups run in weeks 1-10 in Winter and Spring quarters. Meet in Anderson Academic Commons and over Zoom. Register to get specific locations and links! Undergraduate writing group: Wednesdays, 4:00–6:00 pm.
If these times don’t work for you, fill out the registration form and let us know some better times. We'll do our best to open new groups or find other ways to support your writing! Do you have to attend every time? No! You can attend occasionally or weekly, and you can move among the groups depending on your schedule. We ask that you register for the overall program so that you can receive reminders, access to resources, and information about workshops and dissertation- and thesis-specific consultations. When you register, we will add you to our Canvas course so that you can access materials no matter where or when you write.
