Reminder: CrimsonConnect Accounting Book is a Manual Tool

A friendly reminder from the Student Comptroller Team:
The Accounting Book in CrimsonConnect is a MANUAL tracking tool for RSO Treasurers. It DOES NOT automatically update or sync with any of DU's financial systems.

It is the Treasurer’s responsibility to maintain accurate financial records for their RSO. The Accounting Book can help you do this - but you MUST MANUALLY ENTER all transactions using the “+Add Transaction” button and selecting “Group Funds.”

Important:

The Accounting Book does NOT connect to DU Finance systems.

That means the following will NOT automatically appear in your Accounting Book:
  • Approved allocations
  • Charged expenditures
  • Transfers between DU organizations or units

If you want those reflected in your Accounting Book, you must enter them yourself.

What Gets Entered for My RSO?

The ONLY transactions entered into the Accounting Book on behalf of your RSO are:

  • Your Base Allocation at the start of the school year
  • The End-of-Year Sweep to clear unused funds at the end of the school year

Everything else must be entered manually by your Treasurer.

What About Fundraising / Sales Accounts

If your RSO has a Fundraising or Sales account:

  • Those funds are not swept at the end of the year.
  • We strongly recommend keeping a separate tracking log for that account.

What Total Do I Look At in the Accounting Book?

Above is a screenshot of an Accounting Book in CrimsonConnect - here's what you're looking at:

RED CIRCLE – total allocations/revenues (showing $1,000) – This is the total amount of money recorded as coming into your account over the lifetime of your Accounting Book.

BLUE CIRCLE – total expenses (showing $100) – This is the total amount of money recorded as spent over the lifetime of your Accounting Book.

GREEN CIRCLE –  total balance (showing $900) - This is the most important number to monitor. It reflects Total Allocations/Revenues minus Total Expenses
(Based only on what has been manually entered.) Your balance is only accurate if your entries are accurate.

Share your story on the DU Admissions Blog

The DU Admissions Insider is looking to share and showcase the stories and experiences of DU Students. They're looking for short, personal blog posts (about 500 words) that focus on:

  • What it’s like to be involved in a student organization at DU
  • What makes your specific organization unique or meaningful
  • Popular events or traditions within your group
  • How participation has positively impacted your DU experience

Posts typically include a photo of the student author, and photos from organization meetings or events are also welcome.
