Week 3 Wisdom: Make a Plan to Vote
We are 33 days away from Election Day (November 3, 2020). This may be the first presidential election many of you are eligible to vote in. Due to the COVID pandemic, it’s more important than ever to get registered to vote or update your voter registration. In Colorado, all registered voters will automatically receive a mail ballot so you can vote safely by mail or using a drop box. These alternatives to voting in-person will help limit crowding at our Voter Service Center to keep our community safe.
Register to vote for the first time or update your existing voter registration in Colorado at RegisterInColorado.Org. If you live or go to school in Colorado, you have the right to register and vote here, even if you’ve been temporarily displaced by COVID.
For information about registering or updating your registration in a state other than Colorado, visit https://vote.usa.gov.
Additional details were sent out in an email on Friday the 25th, entitled "Important: Register to Vote or Update Your Voter Registration".
PioneerWeb Replacement Project Focus Groups
IT@DU requests your help in identifying a replacement for our current PioneerWeb portal. We are starting early to gather requirements for this important project, which will be completed in summer of 2022. If you would like to be part of the conversation defining our wants and needs for DU's next generation portal, we invite you to sign up for a virtual focus group session. And yes - the new portal will be renamed!
Dimond Family Residential Village Grand Opening Celebration
Join us virtually for a very special Grand Opening Celebration for the Dimond Family Residential Village Tonight, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 5:30pm (MT).
To safely celebrate this momentous occasion, we’d like to invite you to join the celebration virtually. Please see the formal invitation and RSVP for the virtual celebration here. As current students you know firsthand the impact of new spaces on our campus, and in particular spaces that promote community. This event will celebrate the many people who helped bring this vision to reality.
DU Student Personality Workshop
Want a chance to win one of four $125 bookstore gift cards and help the University of Denver, all from the comfort of your computer screen? We would like to invite you to contribute your voice as part of a “Darts” workshop group hosted by DU’s branding agency partner Carnegie Dartlet. A facilitator will be asking questions about the personality of DU’s student body and inquiring about how to characterize the various groups of students we have on campus, as well as the similarities and/or differences between the types of students here.
The best people to provide insight on our students are, of course, the students! So, we hope you are able to take advantage of the opportunity and help us learn more about our student body. These workshops are not a focus group—they will involve looking at personality types, thinking about and discussing the student body with your fellow students, a little bit of writing, and working in a small group.
All that is to say: this should be fun and engaging! We will be hosting four groups between Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th, and would love for you to attend one. A drawing for one $125 bookstore gift card will be held during each of the four sessions, but you must be present to win. Workshops will be filled on a first- come, first-served basis.
Student Employment is Now Part of Career & Professional Development!
Our student employment program is created to offer meaningful learning and professional development opportunities to students. In this way, we aim to build an equitable, student-oriented, learning-focused and career-ready community so that when students graduate, they say, “one thing that prepared me the most was this student employment job and supervisor.
We all are experiencing something, so we look out for each other at DU. If you notice someone is going through something or is stressed about the pandemic, it’s best to check in with them. We offer mental health resources including counseling services, free group therapy, outreach, My SSP tele health app, and prevention education.
