Scrivner Policy Roundtable: Ranked Choice Voting & Open Primaries on the Ballot

This roundtable will focus on ranked choice voting and open primaries, both types of electoral reform gaining popularity around the country. Coloradans will have an opportunity to vote on these issues in this November's election. Proposition 131 would have big implications for elections moving forward and has many vocal supporters and opponents. Join us for a panel discussion with those deeply familiar with the pros and cons of these reforms, followed by dynamic group discussions and Q&A that will help you better understand the various dimensions of this proposition. Dialogue Facilitation Training

The Conflict Engagement and Resolution Initiative (CERI) is hosting a dialogue facilitation training led by Dr. Thomas Walker. This free, weekend long workshop is open to all DU students, faculty, and staff who are interested in learning how to facilitate dialogue across differences on critical social issues. Songs My Grandmothers Taught Me: Music by Finzi, Schumann, and Dvorák A graduate of the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, tenor Matthew Plenk made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the 2007/2008 season as the Sailor's Voice in Tristan und Isolde under the baton of Maestro James Levine, a role he repeated under the baton of Daniel Barenboim. He has since returned to the Met as Arturo, Janek in The Makropolous Case, the Song Seller in Il Tabarro and Marcellus in Hamlet, and appeared as Arturo in the Met's 2011 tour of Japan. Noah Lindquist has been a full-time assistant conductor at the Lyric Opera of Chicago since 2016 and frequently joins the music staff at San Francisco Opera for their summer seasons. Noah recently made his conducting debut leading a Don Pasquale starring Lucas Meachem, Serena Sàenz, Alexey Lavrov, and Thomas Cilluffo, with the Festival Napa Valley Orchestra, an ensemble half comprised of members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and other major orchestras. Shuttle Service Update

The University of Denver offers a campus shuttle that runs 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday along a set route, along with an on-demand shuttle service between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.. To get access, download and use the TripShot app. The app provides: A convenient way to traverse campus and the surrounding area. Easily access nearby shopping, Pearl Street and hubs around campus. Booking an on-demand service that will take you to additional stops both on campus and off-campus. An ETA of the shuttle at your pick-up stop, as well as your destination. It's never been easier to explore the University of Denver and surrounding area! Congratulations to the Provost's Award for Excellence in Academic Advising Winners!

Last month, Provost Clark and the academic advising community gathered to celebrate the winners of the Provost's Award for Excellence in Academic Advising for the 2023-2024 academic year. Ron Sidwell, Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs at Daniels College of Business, won the staff advisor of the year award. Dr. Sanchari Das, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, won the faculty advisor of the year award. Please join us in congratulating Ron and Dr. Das!
