In 2005, a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly designated January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this day, which marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland in 1945, we honor the memory of Holocaust victims and encourage educational programs about Holocaust history to help prevent future acts of genocide.
