All RSO Officers are invited to join the Student Engagement Team, Undergraduate Student Government, and the SAIE Business Office for our annual training on all the important things you need to know about running a Registered Student Organization at the University of Denver!
FAQs:
Who is required to attend? Presidents, VPs, Treasurers are required to attend.
Presidents, VPs, Treasurers and anyone who will be making purchases on behalf of the RSO are required to attend one of the FINANCE sessions while attending the training.
All other RSO Officers are highly encouraged to attend the event.
RSO Advisors are also welcome to attend.
What will Org 101 Cover? Details of the workshop schedule can be viewed within the event page.
What if I won't be on campus on the 7th?
A make-up date with limited session offerings (Finance & Event Planning) will be held in the early evening of Thursday, September 11th.
Video recordings of some sessions (Finance & Event Planning) will also be made available for those who are studying abroad this fall and cannot attend the Sept. 7th or the Sept. 11th session.
A link to the video recordings will be shared as soon as they're available.
If your RSO plans to table at the annual involvement fair, please fill out this form, and hold 4:30-7:30pm on your calendars for now, to allow time for check in, set up, and cleanup before and after the fair.
We plan to bring the Involvement Fair back to Race Street and Dimond Family Residential Village Green this year from 5:30-7pm, and having an accurate list of organizations who plan to participate will help us immensely in mapping out the logistics for the fair.
Your RSO must be Re-Registered and approved in order to participate in the fair.
*Should we experience inclement weather, we will do our best to re-schedule the fair for the afternoon of Friday, September 12th. A postponement is NOT ideal, so hopefully we won't need to pivot to this, but we appreciate your flexibility should that become the case*
Important Budget Information for the Start of the Year
The Highlights:
Your USG-Funded Account was reset (“swept”) at the end of June — balance = $0.
Base Allocation info for FY26 will be emailed to your RSO’s President & Treasurer before Org 101.
Keep in mind: the CrimsonConnect Accounting Book only tracks what YOU enter (except sweeps + base allocation).
Fundraising/Sales (F/S) money is safe! Even if it looks swept in the Accounting Book, it’s still there.
๐งพ FY25 End-of-Year Sweeps
Each June 31, the University sweeps unused funds from your USG-Funded Account back to $0.
Sweeps are already entered into your Accounting Book on CrimsonConnect.
Our office only enters two transactions in your Accounting Book each year:
End-of-Year Sweeps
Base Allocation
All other deposits/expenses must be entered by your RSO (the Accounting Book does not sync with the University’s finance systems).
โ ๏ธ Important for Fundraising/Sales Accounts
If you were tracking your Fundraising/Sales (F/S) Account in the Accounting Book, those entries were also “swept.”
This was just a reset for recordkeeping — your actual F/S funds are untouched and still available (details for those RSOs with F/S funds will be included in the Base Allocation email).
๐ Best practice: Use the Accounting Book only for your USG-Funded Account. Track F/S money separately.
๐ฐ Base Allocations for FY26
The USG Finance Committee Chair (Eli Barbour) will email your RSO’s President and Treasurer with your base allocation before Org 101 Training, and this information will be recorded in your Accounting Book on CrimsonConnect at that time as well.
Base Allocations are a one-time deposit from USG into your USG-Funded account so you can start spending immediately after completing Org 101 and the associated quiz, without waiting for supplemental funding.
How it’s calculated:
50% of what your RSO spent last year (FY25)
Rounded down to the nearest $100
Adjusted if your RSO already received early conference funding
Meet Feruz: USG's Student Orgs Committee Chair:
Hi everyone!
I’m Feruz, USG’s org chair for this Fall (don’t worry if you know Aya Saad-Masri, she’ll be taking care of y’all when she’s back from studying abroad!) We really want to cultivate an environment where everyone feels like they have a space on campus to be themselves.
If you ever need anything from me (like navigating the application process or just a general understanding of RSO rules and regulations), pop by Beans on Thursday’s from 2-4pm, i’d be happy to help out!
Moving back in on Saturday, Septebmer 6th? You're invited to attend
****** If you are an OUTGOING Officer still receiving these newsletters, that means your RSO is NOT YET fully approved for the 2025-26 year, and your INCOMING Officers may not be receiving these emails. PLEASE FORWARD AS APPROPRIATE!*****
