Undergraduate Student Government Election Season is upon us!
Starting today, USG Fall Election season for the 2026-2027 Student Government is officially OPEN!

You may also consider bookmarking the USG Elections Webpage, which has links to all of the required forms, quizzes, and documents you'll need. And when it's time to vote (week 4), candidate platforms will be made available there.

The number in parentheses indicates how many from each position are elected.
Class & Resident Senator Seats
Representing all students in a certain class years or residential demographic and focusing on issues that have to do with student life. Candidates must be an enrolled member of the constituency they wish to run for by September 31st, 2026. Individuals who identify with one class but are considered another class by credits should contact the elections commission.
- Freshman Senator (3)
- Sophomore Senator (2)
- Junior Senator (3)
- Senior Senator (1)
- On Campus Senator (1)
- Off Campus Senator (1)
Academic Senator Seats
Representing all the students in a certain college and focusing on issues that have to do with academic life. Candidates must be a registered major within the college that they wish to run for.
- Lamont School of Music Senator (1)
- BM Majors, BA in Music Majors, and Secondary Music Majors may run and vote for this seat.
- Engineering and Computer Sciences Senator (1)
- Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management Senator (1)
Identity/Experience Based Seats
Representing issues related to the unique group or experience that they are elected to represent.
- Transfer & Exchange Student Senator (1)
- Must be at the University of Denver but not as a traditional freshman. This includes students that are at the University for a one-year exchange program
- International Students Senator (1)
- Must meet the University definition of an international student

Election Guide Quiz - due before you can begin public campaigning
The Election Guide Quiz reviews the information in the Election Guide.
An interested candidate must pass the quiz before they can begin campaigning.
This is also where you agree to allow the USG Staff Advisor to check your GPA and University Standing. Per the USG bylaws, elected USG members must maintain a minimum of a 2.5GPA and be in good standing wtih the University.
Final due date is Friday, September 25th at 11:59pm.
Candidate Agreement, Platform & Petitions - due by September 25th, 11:59pm
Friday, September 25th is the Ballot Qualification Deadline, and the Candidate Platform and Agreement Form must be submitted by 11:59pm in order to be listed on the ballot. This form will ask for uploads of the following:
- A completed Petition Form
- A Candidate Platform
- A candidate platform is the place to share with the student body or the constitutents you're running to represent about the goals you have for your time in USG, how you hope to represent them, and why they should vote for you.
