El Pomar Fellowship Opportunity!

Giving future leaders an opportunity to grow and learn how to lead is critical to the long-term success of organizations in Colorado. In 1991, we created our Fellowship program for recent college graduates and early career professionals to support the pipeline of leaders in our state. During the 22-month program, Fellows work full-time for the Foundation supporting the programing and grant making work of El Pomar along with participating in a comprehensive professional development curriculum.

The Fellowship serves as a dynamic environment where emerging professionals gain hands-on experience, test their skills, and grow through real-world challenges. Fellows obtain invaluable learning opportunities and networking through direct exposure to Colorado's philanthropic and nonprofit arenas, targeted professional development, peer management, program oversight, and connection with an engaged network of more than 300 Fellowship alumni. It's a combination of building the next generation of Colorado's leaders and accelerating their career trajectories.

1st Year Fellows begin their journey by focusing on mastering the core duties and responsibilities essential to the role. In their 2nd year, Fellows take on expanded responsibilities that include supporting onboarding efforts, contributing to team collaboration, and serving as experienced resources for incoming 1st Year Fellows and Interns. These opportunities allow 2nd Year Fellows to deepen their professional development and leadership skills. All Fellows are supported by Foundation staff, the Fellowship Program Manager, and report to the Vice President of Leadership and the Fellowship Program Officer.

Free Deturgent Initative

I am excited to share a completely free and sustainable resource now available to undergraduate students—including our incredible first-generation community!

This initiative has recently received funding and backing from DU's USG, of which Nicole Benton is cc'd here.

📍 Location: Community Commons Bridge
(Outside the Campus Bookstore, near the US Bank ATMs)
💳 Access: Just tap your DU Student ID
🧺 What You Get: 5 detergent sheets = 5 loads of laundry
🌱 Why It’s Awesome: The sheets are hypoallergenic, biodegradable, and eco-friendly—no plastic, no harsh chemicals, no cost.

This pilot program is part of Generation Conscious, an initiative focused on creating climate-friendly, inclusive solutions that directly support students. It’s especially designed to reduce the hidden costs of campus life—like laundry—while helping the planet.

Whether you're commuting, living on campus, or finding your own way, we know every bit of support matters. We want to make sure you know this machine is for undergraduate students—anytime they need it.

✨ Fellowship Opportunity for First-Gen & Low-Income Students

In addition to free resources, Generation Conscious also offers a Fellowship Program designed specifically for first-generation and minority students interested in climate justice and economic empowerment.

The Workforce Development Program offers:

  • Paid professional experience in sustainable systems and circular economy work

  • A chance to join a revolutionary climate solution project

  • Support for students who may feel pressure to choose traditional career paths over their true interests

  • A community of peers building post-fossil fuel career pathways

  • An opportunity to show that economic freedom and social impact can go hand-in-hand

This fellowship is ideal for students who are passionate about justice, sustainability, and creating long-term solutions for their communities—without compromising their financial security. You can learn more about Generation Conscious here: https://generationconscious.co/about/

Please feel free to share with students, to keep this going all we ask is for feedback/proof of engagement with a quick Qualtrics: https://udenver.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_86xa2FrHuTQ1ZKm

SAB members can assign any Status Outcome: Warning, Probation, Elevated Probation, Suspension, or Expulsion. Training will be provided. Please consider joining this important board.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT

For Students with Work-Study Funding

Did you know that students with work-study funding have special access to many positions on campus not open to other students? See this link for more information about work study.

To look for Work-study jobs, go to MyDU / My4D  > at the top, Search "PCO" and select "Pioneer Careers Online (PCO)". On this site, select the Job Board from the left to view jobs. You may use the filter settings to only show Work-Study positions or only non-work-study jobs as well.

Note: Due to the FAFSA delays this year, some students' work-study information in PCO is still updating.

Did you know student employees have access to paid leave time? Well now you do! See Student Employments' blog, linked here, for details on the two types of leave that student employees are eligible for.

Career & Professional Development Intern Data & Resources

We here at Career & Professional Development wanted to let you know about some of the great internship resources available to you from CPD. Did you know that students who complete an internship during college are 2.5X less likely to be seeking employment after graduation? CPD is here to help you along the path to your career goals! Consider some of the following resources below:

The CPD Student Internship Guide Book

This guide is a comprehensive overview of why internships matter, how to find one, the different kinds of internships, and more! Use it to help guide you through the process and take advantage of its checklist to ensure you’re maximizing your chances of landing an internship.

The CPD Job Board Database

This extensive online resource is a compilation of hundreds of different job boards. Although this resource was initially built for grad students, it is something that all DU Students can benefit from. Browse by industry, by jobs local to Denver, or consult the external database for more options. DU credentials and login are required to access.

Check out these resources and more by visiting the Job and Internship Resource Page by clicking here. Visit PCO to browse other internship postings and to make an appointment with your advisor to discuss more. Stay tuned for other internship opportunities, and please reach out if you have any questions.
