For Muslims, the month of Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, prayer, and introspection. Fasting is one of the five main pillars of Islam and is the practice of self-restraint. During this holy month, Muslims observing Ramadan fast from sunrise to sunset and break their daily fast with family and prayer during the shared meal of iftar. The final ten days of Ramadan leading up to Eid al-Fitr, the celebration of the end of Ramadan, are especially holy. To all Muslims observing the holiday this month, Ramadan Mubarak and may this Ramadan be filled with forgiveness and faithful intention.

Friday March 31st marks the birthday of the transformative Mexican-American labor leader and activist, César Chavez. César Chavez Day was established to commemorate the strides Chavez brought in labor rights, specifically for underrepresented agricultural workers in the US through the founding of the National Farmer’s Work Association. Today, we celebrate his lifework and the contributions he made.

To continue supporting civil discourse, DU will host Spark 2023: Reflecting Upon and Championing Free Expression and Academic Freedom on April 5.
Spark features a series of events including a DU community panel, a conversation with Chancellor Haefner and a look at DU’s Prison Arts Initiative.

Apply for DU departmental scholarships!

Did you know that the University of Denver has over 500 departmental scholarships for undergraduate students? To be considered for these awards, you must submit the DU Departmental Scholarship Application. Many scholarships require financial need, which is determined by your 2023-2024 FAFSA and CSS Profile.
Be sure you have submitted all requested materials by reviewing your financial aid checklist on your MyDU dashboard before submitting the DU Departmental Scholarship Application. Each department will review applications and select their recipients in April and May, and you'll be notified if you have received a scholarship in June.
