As US mid-term and local elections approach… KEEP IN MIND
The point of having votes and elections, is that we won’t all agree on everything. That’s what it means to be in a diverse democracy!
Acknowledging others have a right to their perspectives doesn’t mean we like or agree with them. As a learning community, we can try to understand.
We can disagree, even strongly, and still treat one another with respect. As a community, DU expects that level of behavior.
Careful making assumptions about who is or isn’t eligible to vote in the United States, or how they might vote. Be mindful of putting others on the spot to declare whether they could, did and who/what they voted for.
GET INFORMED / INVOLVED In support of our engaging the US election on many levels, DU is hosting several election events, including a voting/election trivia+cookies event in the Community Commons Chopp Marketplace midday, Thursday 10/27.
For information on voting how-to’s across the US, visit www.vote.org
VOTERS SERVICE AND POLLING CENTERS: WHAT ARE THEY? WHERE ARE THEY IN DENVER? We get it, sometimes voting can get complicated. Colorado’s Voters Service and Polling Centers are there to help and make your voting experience an easy and pleasurable one. From large parking areas with easy ingress/egress, Polling Centers provide voters with a team of skilled and trained workers that are committed to helping you cast your vote. Polling Center staff are there to help you register and provide you with an in-person ballot.
BALLOT BOXES & WHERE TO FIND THEM IN DENVER: A ballot box is a secure container where voters may cast their vote and prevents access to the ballots until the closing of the voting period. While the University of Denver is extremely fortunate to have our very own ballot box, there are multiple located around the greater Denver Metro Area! Whether you are a student that lives on campus or out in the Denver Metro Area, let us help you find your nearest ballot box.
Find your nearest ballot box. FYI, a similar message is also being sent to all DU staff and faculty, as the expectations and many resources apply to us all!

Let Faculty Senate know what topics of concern matter to you!
Friday, Nov. 4 (11 AM- 12 PM) | Anderson Academic Commons Special Events Room 290
The Faculty Senate Executive Committee (FSEC) will host a forum for all University of Denver faculty and students to raise topics for possible Senate initiatives on November 4th from 11 a.m. to noon in the Gregg Kvistad Events Room (290) of the Anderson Academic Commons.
FSEC encourages faculty and students to attend (in person or on zoom) to provide suggestions for topics they would like the Faculty Senate to focus on this academic year. Your FSEC looks forward to hearing the concerns of our DU community as they relate to faculty processes, roles, and policies. This is not a forum to discuss these concerns, as that will come later, rather this is a forum to let us know what topics of concern that we should consider for future discussion and initiatives.
In preparation for the meeting, please fill out this short Qualtrics survey which should take anywhere from 3-5 minutes to complete. Even if you are unable to attend the meeting, please complete the survey so your voice can still be heard.
Your point of view may be shared by many others as well and so it will be helpful for FSEC to hear!
For more information, please feel free to contact the Faculty Senate President, Dr. Reneé Botta, via email at renee.botta@du.edu. You can also visit http://www.du.edu/facsen to learn more about the Faculty Senate and its function at DU.
