The Daniels College of Business undergraduate student team won 1st place over MLK Weekend at the National Diversity Case Competition hosted by the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. The Daniels team (Amina Penn, Preeti Saldanha, Alisa Sautter, and Emily Winn) presented 3M with a solution to a business challenged focused on leveraging automation and robotics to support minority owned small businesses, focusing in particular on connecting 3M to the ski industry in Colorado. The competition featured 35 top business schools from across the country. Congratulations to our Daniels and DU team!
The competition was centered around finding a business solution to a topic related to DEI. Daniels/DU students engaged with the university's mission to recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion in solving problems related to the public good. 35 top business schools, including Notre Dame, University of Michigan, UC-Berkeley, and Georgetown University participated in the competition. This competition highlights the importance of experiential learning in the 4D Student Experience!
Days of Futures Past: Black History Poetry Jam and Gallery Exhibition
Thursday, Feb. 10 (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM) | Community Commons, Grand Forum Room 1700
In celebration of Black History Month, on Thursday Feb. 10th at 6pm in the Community Commons Grand Forum we will be hosting a poetry jam and gallery exhibition featuring emergent poets from the Denver Metro Area. Come to enjoy an evening of poetic celebration and an artistic expression of not just the history we know, but also the history we make. This event will be a live event open to the public (with free registration) and will be live-streamed via Zoom as well. This event is a follow-up to the Black History Tomorrow Workshop that we hosted at the beginning of January for artists and poets of color. The art featured in the gallery is from the instructors and students of the workshop. This workshop focused on teaching Afrofuturism as an entry point of empowerment for the students. The students were encouraged to create around the idea of the future that they would like to create for themselves.

In support of the 2017 USG resolution, all incoming first year (freshman) and transfer students are required to attend an Intervene: DU workshop before the deadline to avoid having a hold placed on their registration. Workshops are being offered virtually, and you can sign up in Crimson Connect. Check your DU email for more information!
International Climate Fellows
The International Climate Fellows (ICF) program is a global initiative that helps develop the climate change leaders of tomorrow and builds the capacity of partner organizations working on the frontlines of the climate crisis today.
Fellows are recent graduates of universities with diverse educational and personal backgrounds who show exceptional promise and an interest in working on the climate crisis. If selected, fellows serve one year in a partner organization in a Global South nation that is working to address some aspect of the climate crisis. During the fellowship year, fellows participate with the other members of their cohort in programming designed to further their climate education, share knowledge and experience from working with their partner organizations, open career pathways, and cultivate a lifelong network. Fellows are fully funded, receiving a monthly stipend to cover living expenses.
Partner organizations are small to medium-sized organizations based in the Global South that are working on the frontlines of climate change mitigation or adaptation. They include private sector startups, nonprofits, and local government agencies, but they are united in that they have all been vetted for reputation, integrity, and impact. Fellows are paired with organizations based on interests, background, and aptitude. Each partner organization hosts one fellow per cohort year.
