Thanks to everyone who was able to attend Org 101 Training live last week. For those who weren't or if you know one of your fellow officers wasn't able to make it, the recorded breakout sessions are now posted on CrimsonConnect.
This year's training featured 3 "Breakout Rooms", and all recordings will remain posted year-round so you can always refer back to them:
Required for Event Planners, Recommended for Presidents, VPs & Other Officers
The full training slide deck is also available on the Org 101 web page, and additional resources, reminders, guidelines etc can be found in the RSO Handbook. We encourage you to bookmark the handbook and review it before the year begins.
Sign up by Friday for a table at the Involvement Fair!
The Fall Involvement Fair will be on Sunday, September 8th from 3-5pm, in the Community Commons and on Campus Green.
If you do not register, we cannot guarantee you a table. Your group will be able to arrive and check-in at the table in front of the Global Kitchen/Grand Forum between 2:00 and 2:45pm. You will then be directed to your table.
Please also make sure your RSO has completed the Re-Registration for the 2023-24 year (list below of groups who have not completed), including making any required edits to the documents that you submitted. You can request a table at the fair before your group is fully re-approved, but purchases or other events throughout the year will be on hold until your group is approved.
We look forward to seeing you all back on campus!
Questions about the Involvement Fair? Please reach out to Tanner Anderson at tanner.anderson@du.edu.
RSO Finance Things:
The role of the RSO Treasurer
RSO Treasurers, please remember it is an important part of your role to keep track of funds allocated to and spent by your RSO throughout the year. The Accounting Book feature in CrimsonConnect makes it pretty easy to do this. The Student Engagement Team automatically loads in the Base Allocation amount your group received, but it is up to you to track all other money coming in or out.
This is especially important, as there were some RSOs who overdrafted last fiscal year. Responsible stewardship of Student Activities Fees is an imperative piece of the RSO leadership experience, so if an RSO is found to have overdrafted (spent more than the funds available in their RSO account) the Treasurer and President will be required to meet with the USG Finance Chair or Finance Committee. A second overdraft offense may result in spending privileges for the RSO being revoked for the following quarter.
Pre-Quarter Spending:
The P-Card Checkout Request form is LIVE and can be found in the "RSO Finance Forms" dropdown on the left-hand menu bar of the CrimsonConnect home page in the "RSO Officer Quicklinks" section.
Officers who have completed the Org 101 Training and passed the quiz can request to check out a P-Card for purchases that need to be made prior to the year starting. Please remember requests must be submitted at least 3 business days prior to the expected purchase date.
Supplemental Funding Requests:
The supplemental funding request form will open on the first day of classes, and can also be found in the RSO Finance Forms dropdown of the left-hand menu bar on CrimsonConnect.
For more insight into the guiding principles the USG Finance Committee uses when reviewing supplemental funding requests, you can view the USG Finance Committee Manual here.
Fundraising/Sales Accounts:
Some RSOs have funds in their Fundraising/Sales (formerly called "Non-Funded" accounts). Please reach out to jessie.stellini@du.edu if you believe your group has funds in a Fundraising/Sales account and you'd like the current starting balance for the year.
The following RSOs have modifications to their Re-Registration Materials that have been requested by USG or the Student Engagement team, that mean's we're waiting on YOU to submit those requested edits.
The person who submitted the application will need to check the "Chat" in CrimsonConnect for details about what is missing, or any officer of the group can reach out to usgorgs@du.edu and studentengagement@du.edu for clarification.
African Students United (awaiting advisor agreement signature)
American Sign Language Club (awaiting advisor agreement signature)
DU Car Club (awaiting constitution edits)
DU Game Development Society (awaiting constitution edits)
Russian Language & Culture Club (awaiting constitution edits)
RSOs Who Have NOT yet submitted Re-Registration Materials:
The following RSOs have not yet submitted any re-registration documents but have been in touch about re-registering for the year. Until materials are received, the club will be considered inactive. These groups have missed the Re-Registration deadline and will not be elligible to receive a base allocation of funding in the fall, and will only be elligible to request supplemental funds once they are fully re-approved, and have completed Org 101 training.
Sign up for a table at this year's Homecoming HocktoberFestival
Join us for the ultimate DU Homecoming tradition—Hocktoberfestival on October 19th! This free event welcomes everyone from the DU and Denver community to reconnect with friends, colleagues, and neighbors on our beautiful campus.
Participation in HocktoberFESTival means your group would sign up to be present during HocktoberFESTival via the form below. We ask that every table group host an engagement activity for the attendees to participate in while they visit your table. The activity can be info sharing, a game, a raffle, a contest, or a craft.
