The Spirituals Project Winter Concert featuring Denver Children’s Choir
Sunday, March 3 (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM) | Newman Center for the Performing Arts, Gates Concert Hall
This season The Spirituals Project will be focusing on the theme of prayer. Our music in the choir’s performances this year will highlight the ways in which Spirituals convey thoughts about prayer and how prayer factored into the daily lives of the enslaved African community. While prayer was a vehicle to express their faith in a God who they believed would deliver them out of their predicament just as the God of Israel had done for the Hebrews, it in no way made them complacent and content to wait for this God to bring an end to slavery. They took an active role in attaining their own freedom and saw themselves as partnering with God in this work. Our special guest for this concert event is the Denver Children’s Choir under the direction of Lisa Cameron. Sunday, March 3 (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM) Newman Center for the Performing Arts, Gates Concert Hall https://liberalarts.du.edu/lamont/news-events/calendar/spirituals-project-winter-concert. More info
