Student Success Coaching is happy to announce that Student Success Coaching appointments are now available to graduate students at DU! In-person and virtual appointments are offered! Drop-in Coaching is also available weeks 5-10 on Wednesday's from 1:00-4:00pm in Suite 3100 of the Community Commons. Meet one-on-one with a Student Success Coach to improve your graduate student experience! Your coach will support you, challenge you, and hold you accountable through individualized coaching sessions. Topics are customized to meet your needs and may include goal setting, time management, organization, study skills, and stress management. You will feel more confident in your abilities and more knowledgeable about the resources available at DU. Your coach will help you identify and achieve your goals through one-on-one support. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the third Thursday of the month (October 19th) is National Wear Purple Day! Come to campus wearing purple as a way to raise awareness around domestic/dating violence and to show support to survivors in our community. Don’t have purple? Want to honor the day in community? Come to our event! From 10am to 1pm in CCOM 1700, we'll have: a purple smoothie bar, purple awareness ribbons, purple nail polish, friendship bracelet making, and interactive elements designed to help educate and raise awareness.More info

Royal Persian painting and Islamic Mysticism

Royal Persian painting, Islamic mysticism, and diplomatic and cultural connections between Iran and China in the Early Modern period are the subjects of this year’s John C. Livingston Lecture by Assistant Professor of Art History Bilha Moor. The talk explores manuscript painting in Isfahan (Iran) in the early 17th century when the imperial city was referred to as “half of the world” and attracted European ambassadors, traders, and travelers. “Professor Moor’s research offers important insights into the cultural, artistic and diplomatic relations between China and Persia at a key period of history and we’re pleased to honor her as this year’s Livingston Lecturer,” said Annabeth Headrick, director, School of Art & Art History. At this event, students will have an opportunity to discuss several policy proposals related to free expression and inclusivity, with the assistance of prereading materials. Food will be provided!
