In this short session, Dr. Cris Tietsort will overview his work in founding the DU CompassionLab, an experimental learning and research lab focused on helping students develop the skills and capacity for connection and compassion in an increasingly disconnected world.

Cris Tietsort (PhD, Arizona State University) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Denver. The heart of Cris\'s research and teaching commitments is cultivating compassion and connection in an increasingly disconnected world. In his research, he is currently examining how to reduce burnout and increase compassion at work, including leader communication and behavior. In his teaching, Cris teaches applied courses on leadership, organizational theory, and negotiation. He is also a Faculty Fellow for Character on the University of Denver\'s 4D Student Experience team, where he partners with faculty to help them envision how compassion and connection can be infused into their own teaching and research. He is also the Founder of DU\'s new CompassionLab, an experiential learning and research lab supporting skills for compassion and connection.
