It is hard not to open a news feed/source of any kind and not run into something about cyber security and potentially sweeping vulnerabilities and consequences. Yet this level of profile is not matched by clarity or even an on-going public debate about cyber security at the national level. This is due to a set of complex, overlapping challenges about the nature of cyber security in an open society. This mini-lecture will highlight those challenges and the trade-offs they create for policy makers and the public.
