Are you considering studying abroad and receiving the Federal Pell Grant? Then the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship offered through the US Department of State is for you! In this session, we will cover what the scholarship is, eligibility requirements, how to apply, and application tips.

The Gilman Scholarship aims to help undergraduates who have been under-represented in study abroad. This includes students with high financial need, students in under-represented fields such as the sciences and engineering, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities, among others. To be eligible, students must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application or during the time they are studying abroad. Please review the full eligibility requirements on Gilman's website https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/applicants/eligibility/.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship deadline (March 7, 2024) is fast approaching for programs starting between May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025.

Diversity in front of the and behind the camera

Diversity In Front Of and Behind the Camera with Peter Lauer

Feb. 8 (5:30-8:00) | Margery Reed Hall, Reiman Theater
The Department of Media, Film, and Journalism Studies invites you to the 2024 Wolzien Lecture featuring Peter Lauer. Lauer has been working for nearly 40 years, directing everything from music videos to commercials to television, he is known for series such as Arrested Development, Malcolm in the Middle, Gilmore Girls, and currently the series Uncoupled and Emily in Paris. In conversation with DU faculty, he will discuss the importance of diversity behind the camera and the current trends of film and television. The dialogue will be followed by a Q&A portion, so audience members may engage directly with panelists.

The 2024 Wolzien Lecture will take place in Reiman Theater, Margery Reed Hall, on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

The event will be preceded by a brief reception from 5:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. You are encouraged to register in advance here.
