2022 Pio Prep Leadership Institute - Seeking DU Student Mentors


Latinx Pio Prep Leadership Institute (LPP): July 18 – 21
Black/African American Pio Prep Leadership Institute (BPP): August 1 – 4


The University of Denver is excited to announce that our summer Pio Prep Leadership Institute will be back on campus and in-person in 2022!

This three-day overnight program brings together excelling students from across Colorado who identify as Black/African American and/or Latinx. Our objectives with the Pio Prep Institute are enhancing college access, exploring racial/ethnic identity, and expanding leadership for rising high school juniors and seniors.

A critical component of this program is our student to student connection, thus we invite you to apply to serve as a mentor this summer!

The first day will be utilized as a mentor training day and the other three days and two nights will be jam-packed with high-quality workshops, leadership building activities, opportunities to better understand the college application process, exploration of personal identity, and engagement with DU administrators and current students.

Benefits provided to selected Mentors:

  • Dynamic on-campus experience promoting college access, leadership, and cultural identity
  • Inspire talented high school students to consider higher education
  • Build one's resume and social circle of influence
  • Help build greater racial, ethnic, socioeconomic diversity on campus
  • On campus housing for week of program
  • Daily meals and activities
  • $500 stipend for your participation


Application Deadline: April 22nd, 2022
Please mark your calendars - Interviews for this position will take place May 2nd through 6th. All completed applicants will receive a decision in mid-May.

Watch out for donation boxes in front of the community commons and on-campus resident halls. Please donate any seasonal clothing and/or underwear for the Denver Rescue Mission clothing drive! All donations are appreciated. The event will go from April 18 to April 25.
