As a follow up to Org 101 that highlights essential DU student organization leadership information around booking spaces, managing budgets/spending, and creating events, we are offering additional knowledge and leadership skill-building information for current/future student org leaders on topics such as: recruitment/retention, managing conflict, change management, delegation and motivation, and more!
Come learn how to effectively lead student groups and build skills that will follow you into your professional careers.
Thank you to the nearly 200 RSO Officers who joined us for Org 101 Training on Sunday! It was energizing having so many of you back in person connecting with one another and getting ready for a wonderful new year of incredible events and initiatives coming from your RSOs!
Since so many of you made it on Sunday, we've cancelled tonight's make-up session.
If you missed the training, are currently abroad, or just want access to some of the material we went over - including the Finance Training, Event Planning Training, and Finance Quiz - it is now all posted on the Org 101 Website which you can find in the RSO Officer Quicklinks Section of the CrimsonConnect home-page left-hand menu bar. (screenshot aboves shows you where to go).
Don't forget - in order to check out a P-Card you must first pass the finance quiz.
Not seeing that section of the left-hand menu? Make sure you're in the correct "Hub" - your home page shouldn't say anything about Faculty/Staff or Grad Students at the top. To switch Hubs, click on the "CrimsonConnect" icon at the top left of the website and toggle to the option that's just called "CrimsonConnect").
If CrimsonConnect is sending you to a "login-loop" when you try to access the finance forms, please try clearing your browser history/cache/cookies or opening the site in an incognito window. If you're still having trouble - reach out to studentengagement@du.edu so we can share the glitch with the site partners.
A Quick Note about EZCater:
There are some additional required questions that need to be answered on the payment page of your EZ Cater order BEFORE you invite studentcomptroller@du.edu to pay.
If you're not seeing those questions when you invite studentcomptroller@du.edu to pay, please send a followup email to studentcomptroller with the following information:
RSO Name
RSO Budget Number that should be charged for the order
Event Name & short description
EZ Cater order number or identifiable info (restaurant, date etc) and the invite to pay link
National Hazing Prevention Week
This week is National hazing Prevention Week! As an RSO Officer, you can take action against Hazing by completing the Hazing Prevention Module.
Recognize. Respond. Report.
Recognize Red Flags. Not all “traditions” are harmless. Review warning signs and discuss them with your RSO.
Respond Safely. Use bystander strategies: direct (be the primary helper), delegate (assign a task or get assistance), distract (create a distraction or halt the situation), or delay (follow-up later, unless immediate support is required).
As a reminder, all RSOs at DU agree to the following Statement of Non-Hazing and incorporate this statement into their constitution/by-laws.
This organization will not conspire to engage in any act, even if committed with the Effective Consent of all parties, which endangers the psychological or physical health or safety of a person, or by which a person is encouraged to engage in conduct that a reasonable person would consider to be humiliating, when the act is explicitly or implicitly a condition of admission into, affiliation with, or continued membership in any group. Actively or passively encouraging these acts is also prohibited.
Harm Reduction Summit & Hallo-wellness Fair
EVENT
Harm Reduction Summit: Less Risk. More Fun! (Fall 2025)
Monday, October 13 at 9:00am
to Saturday, November 1 at 11:00pm
Series of Harm Reduction workshop offerings open to ALL STUDENTS to support completion of the RSO Harm Reduction Requirement!
Don't forget, 25% of each RSO's members must complete a Harm Reduction training by the end of this school year. The summit is a great opportunity to attend one of several open trainings being offered - members of an RSO do NOT all need to attend the same training, individuals can pick a workshop that best fits their availability.
Thrive Health Promotion invites RSOs to attend the Hallo-Wellness Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 14th from 1:00pm-4:30pm in CCOM 1700 as a way of completing the Harm Reduction Requirement!
By attending Hallo-Wellness and completing the requirements outlined below, attending this event can count towards the Harm Reduction Requirement. To receive credit, participants must:
Check-in at the event
Be an active participant by visiting at least 7 vendors. Participants will be given a bingo card at check-in and will receive stickers by vendors at each table. Participants need to return their bingo cards to the check-in table before leaving.
Complete a post event survey by the end of the day on Oct 14th. This survey will be linked via a QR Code and can be accessed via your bingo sheet and other flyers around the event space.
As a reminder, RSOs that complete the Harm Reduction Requirement by November 14th, 2025 will receive $50 for an upcoming event.
Get your group to the Hallo-Wellness Fair by sharing the Crimson Connect event link and encouraging people to register for the event! Email hcc.thrive@du.edu for questions!
