Our mission African Students United is to create a space to celebrate educate, and participate in the understanding of the many rich, diverse cultures of Africa. Through African cultural events, it will introduce multiple features of African food, dance, music, etc. This organization’s purpose is to serve African students and its allies at the University of Denver to create an inclusive institution. We plan to make an impact on the outside African community through service projects, community outreach, etc. We would also like to encourage college seeking African students to seriously consider making DU their new home. This would help DU create a space where cultural diversity is present on campus. African Students United ultimately aims to make this a celebrated and appreciated identity on campus.

Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Eta Iota Chapter, at the University of Denver is a national co-ed service fraternity organized to provide community service, leadership development, and social opportunities for college students. Since 1925 nearly 500,000 members on more than 375 campus provide more service on more campuses than any other collegiate service organization. Alpha Eta Iota chapter has been aiding in this service since chartering on the University of Denver campus in 2013. You are able to be a member of Alpha Phi Omega as well as be a member of other social Greek organizations. Our chapter of Alpha Phi Omega strives to provide both our members and the DU community opportunities of service on our campus, in our communities, and throughout our nation. The purpose of the Board Game Club is to provide students with the chance to experience a fun and relaxing evening playing board games, during which time they will be able to work on strengthening strategies and developing relationships. Chabad at the University of Denver is dedicated to serving all students on campus through various programs. It is the purpose of Tau Beta Pi to build a community of high achieving individuals in the Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering. This society is composed of the highest achieving students in the Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering whom also exhibit good character. Tau Beta Pi is a way for these people to connect within the University of Denver, and also connect with other high achieving individuals of Tau Beta Pi chapters from other universities. Tau Beta Pi is a way to set students apart from other individuals applying for similar positions as the prestige of the name is known throughout the country.

Tau Beta Pi’s mission is also to give back to the community. Students of “good character” put the community first because they understand its importance in the world. This can be achieved through volunteer work, tutoring, or other ways to help the community that developed us into the high achieve individuals we are today. The objects of this Chapter shall be to afford an opportunity for students of a chemical science to become better acquainted, to secure the intellectual stimulation that arises from professional association, to obtain experience in preparing and presenting technical material before chemical audiences, to foster a professional spirit among the members, to instill a professional pride in the chemical sciences, and to foster an awareness of the responsibilities and challenges of the modern chemist. Participation in PioChem has the final objectives of fostering an environment where students sharing a passion for chemistry can come together and learn how to communicate and share their passion to others especially to non-chemistry majors and young scientists. This extends beyond our campus to off-campus locations such as local elementary schools, public libraries, and high schools. Professional work ethic principles, team communication, proper safety principles, chemistry explanations, scientific literacy, and scientific excellence are also heavily stressed throughout our club.

Every article is published weekly at duclarion.com, which reaches more than 50,000 viewers. The Clarion does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the faculty, staff and/or administration of DU, and the opinions expressed by columnists and contributing writers do not necessarily reflect those of the Clarion.

New to the Clarion? Thinking about joining? Here's what you need to know:

We welcome undergraduates and graduate students of all skill levels, political affiliations, races, genders, sexual orientations, etc. We cover News, Opinions, Sports and Arts & Life. We are seeking writers, photographers, illustrators, videographers, editors and the like. None of those suit you? We need loyal readers to follow us on social and pick up a paper copy, available off the presses every Tuesday evening.

No experience necessary! The Clarion is a great way to improve your writing, photography, etc. We are flexible. We meet at 6 p.m. in the Academic or Community Commons. But if that doesn't work for your schedule, email duclarioneditor@gmail.com. We will send the weekly pitch list, so you can still contribute. If you're having a particularly busy quarter, feel free to take a few weeks off and come back to us another time.

This is a great resume builder, especially if you study things like media, journalism, film, writing, business, political science, etc. There are also paid positions available. If you work hard for us, you may get the opportunity to apply for a staff position or internship.
