Fall 2023 - Involvement Fair

Involvement Fair Tips:

  • Lots of groups are going to try to connect with you at the involvement fair, they're excited to build their group with new members.
  • Prioritize the groups that connect with your interests, even if it's a brand new interest.
  • Indicate your interest to as many groups as you think you may want to stay in touch with. It is the best way of staying in the loop of what's going on around campus. You can always take yourself off of mailing lists later.
  • Remember, EVERYONE is in the same boat of trying to meet new people right now, and it can be challenging or awkward.
  • Be open to trying out new things and exploring clubs and stepping out of your comfort zone.
  • You don't have to visit every single booth at the involvement fair, these clubs will always be around and you will find your way to them eventually.
  • All of the student orgs are student led, built by students for students. Being part of that community will not only help you grow but will also help the org grow.
  • Don't be afraid of going to a club without a friend, chances are that's where you'll make new friends.
  • Feel free to ask questions about the club, like what they typically do, how often they meet, if the club is purely academic, social, or both. This is a great way to get a better idea of a club, and most club members will be happy to answer any questions you have!
  • Switch up clubs or try a new one every so often. Don't feel like you're stuck with a club after a meeting or two. Most clubs welcome new members any time of the year, so it's okay to find a new org if you feel one you joined isn't a good fit.
